Re: (ET) What is a Belleville washer?

McMaster has them, but theoretically you need all the specs. However you can probably get a good match using the dimensions. If you like I can measure one tonight and let you know.

Hi
I am still working on the old style brake for my E12 I've got it all back together and replace all the missing parts. I am at the point were I am adjusting the brake with the castellated bolt, the parts diagram in the shop manual show the bolt a 5MM washer and then three Belleville washers. Currently I have only the bolt. What is a Belleville washer?

They are a dome shaped washer. The shape provides a spring force that maintains pressure during temperature and other variations. See https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Direct.asp?GroupID=189 for a diagram.
