RE: (ET) What is a Belleville washer?

Title: Message
Belleville washers are made of spring steel and concave.   When properly tightened they apply considerable force to the bolted connection.
Thickness, dimensions, and material determine the force.  They can probably be sourced at a speciality commercial bolt supplier.

Subject: (ET) What is a Belleville washer?

Hi
I am still working on the old style brake for my E12 I've got it all back together and replace all the missing parts. I am at the point were I am adjusting the brake with the castellated bolt, the parts diagram in the shop manual show the bolt a 5MM washer and then three Belleville washers. Currently I have only the bolt. What is a Belleville washer?
