CANADIAN COMPANY PLOWS INTO TOWN WITH 200 JOBS

SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY – December 9, 2003 - A couple of weeks ago, Mayor
Joe Sohm told The Pioneer News that there was "no limit to growth" of
industry along the Interstate 65 corridor.

The announcement from an Ontario, Canada-based company to locate its
manufacturing facility to downtown Shepherdsville produced further
 proof of Sohm's claim.

SnowBear Limited, a manufacturer of personal snowplows, loading ramps,
trailers and, most recently, a cordless electric lawnmower, purchased
a 103,000 square foot building in Shepherdsville to begin
manufacturing products here in the United States.

The property is located at the former site of Ziniz' former
Shepherdsville location, prior to going out of business.

Bullitt County Economic Development Director Bob Fouts said SnowBear
Limited could produce as many as 200 jobs, but would initially hire
 only half of that.

SnowBear's employees will not be like most of the other recent
businesses in the growing industrial area, in that they consist of
skilled laborers such as machinists and steel fabricators - leading to
higher wages than warehouse workers and assembly line employees.

According to Fouts, SnowBear wages will range from $9-$25 hourly with
impressive benefits packages offered, as well.

Although SnowBear can use some of the existing equipment at the
facility, it's estimated that the company will invest more than $12
 million in the total project.

SnowBear Limited supplies products to Sam's, Wal-Mart, Costco and Home
Depot retailers - shipping products throughout North America.

Although SnowBear executives were unable to return phone calls by
Friday afternoon, their decision to locate a manufacturing facility in
Bullitt County has created quite a stir amongst county officials.

"This has been a very good year," Fouts said. "And this gets us into
 the international market."

Sohm said company officials were in Louisville during the home and
garden show earlier this year. With some time, they began to look at
some existing facilities and Shepherdsville was in the radar screen.

Ironically, Sohm said when SnowBear officials came to meet with the
city, the bottled water served at city hall happened to come from the
 company's hometown in Canada.

"It was purely a coincidence," said Sohm. "But it went great. They
 loved the time here."

Besides the higher wages, this will set the city up for its first
major manufacturing jobs. While hundreds of distribution-type jobs
have been created over the past couple of years, Sohm said the
 manufacturing mix is important.

With the company applying for state incentives, Sohm said
Shepherdsville would not be asked for any inducements. That means the
city will keep its entire 1 percent occupational tax.

He is also encouraged to hear that SnowBear officials will be open to
talk to former Ziniz employees who lost their jobs earlier this year
when the material handling company shut down operations.

"The plan is coming together," said Sohm. "It's great to see
 everything come to fruition."

While confident Shepherdsville would be a hot area for economic
development, the mayor admitted that even he has been in shock with
the fourth major announcement in the past four months and the second
 in one week.

"It's amazing what's happened in a short time," said Sohm. "And we're
 not finished."

Earlier in the week, Reynolds Food Packaging, a division of Alcoa,
announced plans to open a facility in the Cedar Grove Business Park.
Earlier this summer, Gordon Food Service and Alliance Entertainment
announced plans to open distribution centers

On 01/03/05 I saw a Snowbear electric lawnmower on The Price Is

snow plows for trucks. Does anyone in the group know anything about them?
