David, think of the E-12 S as a decontented E-15 . Same transaxle, smaller tires, single drive belt, less robust traction motor, three armature controlled speeds only , but look at the control card....................... The same card as used in the seven speed E-15, but there are many components that are not present.

If I'm not mistaken, the later E12 had a PM motor; early production was wound field type. I was thinking that the later PM model was the E12S, but perhaps
not (or perhaps that's not the "S" difference).
