(ET) Mower motor blade hub removal.

I heard of various methods to remove the blade hub from a mower motor.
Tried
a new way tonight on a small diameter motor and it worked well and was done
in about 10 minutes. I did not even have to take the motor off the deck.

1) Remove blade
2) Spray penetrating oil in the hub and re-insert screw all the way into
the
shaft.
3) Use a 3 arm puller to pull on the hub rather than the flange. I had to
thin out the arm tips to get enough clearance to get between the hub and
the
motor.
4) Apply firm pressure to the puller.
5) Use an air chisel on the end of the puller bolt to get an initial
release
of the hub from motor shaft. I only had to rattle it for about 3-5 seconds
when it made its first move.
6) Continue to crank on the puller until the hub comes off. You may need a
longer bolt to finish removal.
7) Remove wires and top motor cap.
8) Tap out shaft

I only have done this once and don't know how hard this hub was stuck on
the
shaft but I can tell you that the puller alone was not taking it off and
the
hub and shaft were quite rusty.
