Hi all, Ed from North Carolina. 36 years old, currently using John Deere
Electric 90 (or rather, the wife and 6 year-old daughter use it) and E12M
for mowing chores. Also use E20 for gardening, and currently restoring New
Idea version of the E12M.
I may end up just using the Avco New Idea for parts for the E12M.
I also have a Solar Electric car gmc S-15 pickup as a daily driver. It is
144-volt, (18 x 8 with 12V aux battery) and charges with standard 120 vac
outlet.
I guess I am a little young for the average on the list, but I am trying to
make up for lost time.
I agree with the co-op idea, and would like to not only share data on
repairs, models, etc, but also list spares that may be available.
I would guess that with Bill leaving the market, parts may well become a
commodity.
With gas prices going up, I would also expect the mowers to gain in value,
as seen recently on Ebay.
I have seen an E12 go for over 1000.00, and a JD E90 go for 933.00.
Also, EV's are bringing premium price.
As some of you on the list have advocated, we need to pool (experience,
knowledge) resources, and produce a modern version of the Elec Trak.
Even if it started out as buying blown up ICE machines and retooling with
single motor for traction and blades, I believe the demographics for a
success in this market are about to become positive for the "little guy".
