(ET) More Trouble

Tried to use my C-185 over the weekend to cut grass for the first time.
It will move forward and reverse, but it won't move put of the first few
speeds.

I had this trouble last summer, but pushing my power pulse/cruise control
button would kick it up to higher speeds.
Pushing it yesterday would make it speed up but as soon as I would let go 
of
the button, it slowed down.

Looks like I will be on the phone to Bill Gunn this morning.
In the meantime, any clues?
