RE: (ET) New mower project
I'm curious also. That sounds like too much for thermal expansion.
You say the oil still looks clean so it doesn't sound like the
crankcase has been compromised, but then again gas mixes with oil
quite well. I would think the gas would enter the crankcase and
not the other way around though. What make, model is it?
They normally turn about 3500 rpm max. The faster the blade spins
the better the cut will look. Better ask Steve Clunn to be sure.
This is the first year that I have not used an ICE for any yard
work.
I-5
Craftsman plug-in pusher 19inch
Troy-Bilt cordless string trimmer (Not happy with it, cut is too
small. Would rather have a plug in with twice the cut and an
inverter for my I-5.)
Did anybody try one of those 36v inverters from that Chinese
company offered last year?

Subject: (ET) New mower project
I think my gas push mower just crapped out.
When I started mowing it was 1/2" from full.
I parked it and smelled gas 20 minutes later
and it was dripping out the cap and completely
full.
I will convert it to electric with a BLDC motor
and control from work, 24Vdc.
What is the RPM of the mower blade on a standard
push mower?
Thanks,
Rod
P.S. I want the gas engine to be dead, it gives
me a legitimate excuse to convert to electric,
however I would still like to know how the gas volume
increases by at least 8 0z. Did the crankcase crack?
I didn't hit anything, but it was running crappy.
Oil level was adequate and it was clean synthetic.
