Re: (ET) solid state

I've looked at using a Curtis sep-ex controller ... but haven't had the time to try it out. By controlling both the field and armature, regen braking would be preserved for control on those downhill runs. Using an electronic controller should result in many less wires and connections as all the relays would be gone. This would generally improve reliability, except that when the controller does go bad, it goes completely so no easy way to jury-rig something and keep the ET rolling.

I assume you are talking about one of the large frame tractors. I think others have added a controller to the armature just as you describe - hopefully they will speak up.

Hi!
I have looked at some of the arckives, has anyone had sucsess at solid state? I was thinking of a two stage: a golf cart controller for the armature and a second swithch for the field. I would reverse the field instead of the armature.
