Looks like the E16 has more forward speeds than the E14.  Presumably it 
has 
a bigger motor.  The frame looks identical.  Maybe someone else knows 
more.  
I don't see the E12s on this page, unfortunately.

The E12s, E14, and E16 are later GE tractors.  I think I recall reading 
(or 
hearing) that at least the E12s and E14, and maybe the E16 too, had 
permanent magnet motors, instead of the wound-field motors used in the 
earlier E12/E15/E20 tractors.  That would make them more prone to damage 
from overheating, and pose additional challenges when working on the motor 
(careful not to crack those magnets).  I might be remembering incorrectly, 
though.
