A Christmas visit From Bill Gunn


Twas the night before Christmas--
And In basement of house
All the Elec-Trak's were stored 
As still as a mouse.

Spare parts were suspended 
>From the ceiling with care 
So in case of a breakdown
I would not despair.

They were primed, newly painted--
A bright yellow show:
I'd make sure that by springtime 
These, Traks were ready to go.
 
When out in the drive
There arouse such a clatter
I sprang from my polishing 
To see what was the matter.

I saw there a driver 
On Elec-Trak he'd come;
I knew right away 
This must be Bill Gunn.

Quicker than a snow cat
His Elec-Trak it came
Bill's jacket Trak-yellow
His cap was the same.

His machine was energized 
With Trojans so quick 
I knew in a moment 
He could rival St. Nick.


With more power than Wheel-Horse 
More rapid than Deere
Moonlit snow-blower flashing.
Bill sparkled with cheer.

With benevolent smile,
Onward he came.
The Elec-Trak bore gifts--
Parts with address and name.

With a Wink of his eye,
And a nod of his head,
Bill let me know
I'd go happy to bed.

And I heard him exclaim 
As he drove out of sight
"Keep those batteries charged!
And mow that lawn right."
