(ET) Breaking in a new pack

Well, I just bought a set of batteries for my E-15 (Exide via Sam's CLub,
not the greatest but they were what I could get), and I'd like some advice
on breaking them in.  I have one of Harry Landis' charge controllers, so I
can either use that or the regular timer.  (Landis' controller checks the
battery voltage, and if it's below 38 volts it charges for 5 minutes.  
Then it stops charging and checks the voltage again.) 

Any advice?
