That's a common problem in ALL tillers.
I think even flame has been used to cut the weeds off!

Afternoon, Geof: Yup, it is quiet, but my server has been ill {:-{ so
wasn't sure what was working.
Just tilling some dead weeds in the garden today, wondered why the
tiller wasn't doing a very good job so looked under the shield. Only
about 1" of the tines was showing, rest wrapped in a hard layer of weed
stems. Took a crowbar to get them out. Works pretty good now, wonder
if a knife mounted on the sheild and set between the tines would get rid
of that problem.
