Try NOT lowering the lift belt more than about half an inch after the deck
is on the ground. If you catch something, the deck will have to pull the
lift belt before it swings up.

Interesting ideas.
While we are on the subject, has anyone modified their decks so they don't
swing up when the rear of the deck catches something in reverse? I get real
skittish everytime I go in reverse while mowing.
