(ET) Coils

The control panel on my E12 schematic shows 6 coils called '1A', '2A',
'1F', '2F', '1R', '2R'.
My question is "Are these identical pieces of equipment, even though they
perform different functions? In other words, if I had a brand new coil,
could I use it to replace any one of the six that I mentioned?
Also, is there an easy way to test them to see if they are working
correctly?
