Mine coasts too. For 10 or 15 seconds even. MOST of these are
single-stage snow-THROWERS. I don't think many dual-stage snow-BLOWERS
were shipped. Nor do I know if all were wired the same, or used a motor
that could easily be 'braked'.

It coasts to a stop, or at least mine does. It's important to wait
for it to do so completely before trying to clear the stuck snow out
of the chute. I was only mildly injured; it could have been much
worse.
