That came from me and I got it from Bill Gunn. He was very explicit about
64 ozs but I don't remember the technical reasoning. With respect to
viscosity, Bill asked where I live (downstate New York) and would I be
plowing snow (yes), and he recommended 85-140 oil. Bought my tractor last
Fall; no funny noises from the transaxle. Still, I did the right thing and
drained about 64 ozs of probably original oil. It was filthy, heavyweight
stuff that apparently did its job perhaps due to the amount of oil in
there.
Cheers, Jack

Subject: (ET) Transaxle Oil Fill
Recently it was said to angle the tractor to allow filling the transaxle
with no less than 64 oz of fluid.
I was wondering where this information came from because my owners manual
says to fill until oil runs out of the fill hole.
I am getting ready to change my oil and I just want to be sure I do it
correctly.
Thanks
Dennis
