Hello again,
After my post requesting Lester charger information, I thought I should add
what might be some useful information.
Fair Radio (fairradio.com) has a very flexible battery charger as follows:
"0-135 VDC 15 Amps PP-1659A BATTERY CHARGER, used to charge storage
batteries; produces unregulated 0-135 VDC 15 amp output from 115/230 VAC
50-60 Hz 15 amp input. Has 2.5" dia meters 0-150 VDC and 0-20 amps DC,
Coarse and Fine 12-step controls, plus 115/230 V input selector switch.
Input and Output each have circuit breaker; with power cord. 12x11x12, 60
lbs sh. USED, $49.50 Manual repro, $10.00"
I have one, and althought it's unregulated and only 15 amps, it's really
versatile. I discovered that if you set the power input switch to 230v and
run it on 115, you have 144 switched steps between 0 and 68 volts!! You
can see the picture at http://www.fairradio.com/pp-1659a.htm
Here's another delight from them:
"ELECTRO SWITCH TAP SWITCH, 3 lbs. UNUSED:
#568-5883, 4PDT 60 amps 40 VDC; w/ knob, 4x4.4" dia $7"
This thing is about the size of a coffe mug and first-class heavy-duty.
Silver contacts. You can parallel the sections for up to 240 amps carrying
capacity SPDT, although you would only want to switch 60 amps under load.
On a couple of mine, the mechanism had to be lubricated although they
performed OK without it.
Hope this is of some use.
