My E12 is side discharge.  The blades are standard (not high-lift).  I can
cut 3" grass with 
4" dandelions, and get 1.5" grass with 3.5" dandelions.  They may duck, but
they duck less 
with gas-engined mowers.  I may try other blades, and live with the shorter
battery life.

Just mowed a stupendous crop of the little yellow buggers in the yard today
with out John Deere electric 90.  (like an e-8 - kinda).  It gets most of
the flowers, only misses a few of the really low ones.  The deck is 2 
blades
with a lot of suction and side ejection, maybe that is the big difference.
