Bruce and others,
The blade holders are a slip fit on to the motor shaft when there is no
rust. When there is rust, well, you have to work a bit. The safest way to
press them off is to cut off the hex end of a 1/4 inch bolt, thread it
fully
into the bolt hole in the shaft end, and press on the bolt. An earlier
posting of mine has the bolt length that works well. Use a split bearing
puller under the blade holder. This technique virtually eliminates the
chance of damaging the motor shaft.
When its time to reassemble make sure that all rust, high spots, or
whatever, is removed so that the blade holder is again a slip fit or, at
worst, a light tap fit.
