Hi,
I know I'm a bit late to the party on this one but I do have a question. When you say you removed the set screws, what kind of set screws were they? I believe later tractors used a long 5/16 screw that had a square drive with a jam nut. However, earlier tractors use the standard setscrew, (I believe a 1/4”) that use a hex key. If it's the 1/4” hex, there are 2 set screws stacked in the hole. The top one is a jam for the lower screw.

I got a number of replies about my problem. Several replied to this post, and some replied by email messages. A number of suggestions I had already tried - heating the hub and cooling the axle; beating outward on the hub to override the snap rings; etc. Several did not understand what I was trying to do, which was to put these hubs on another transaxle that I got with no hubs, and suggested ways to destroy these hubs and get new replacements
Finally I ended up sawing off one axle next to the hub. This gave me room to split the case and remove the snap ring from the other axle. I then took these parts to a friend who has a 12 ton press and he pumped it to the max - and nothing moved. We then took the parts to a truck service shop 2 blocks from there, where my friend used to be the service manager. They had a 75 ton press which was able to push out the axles. There was a loud POP when it broke loose. So there you have it - just have a good friend who has access to a 75 ton press.Erv Troyer   Lagrange, IN++++++++++++++++++++On 11/7/2024 5:26 PM, Erv Troyer via Elec-trak wrote:
I got a used 4 speed transmission and installed it in my EGT120 tractor. It didn't have the wheel hubs, so I am trying to remove the hubs from the old transmission. I have removed the set screws. and am using a 3 jaw puller, and have heated and pounded then pounded some more. Nothing moves.
Has anyone found a way to get these hubs off? I talked to Harold (Clean Power Supply) and he had some suggestions. He has built a heavy duty puller that he uses, but I don't want to make one like this for only the one time I will I will be doing this Erv Troyer Lagrange,IN
