Re: Inquiry about bellringing lessons for high end tour promoter

It was the church's idea to begin with (or the Old North fundraising foundation). The vicar was the one who sent the original email to Ricky. Maybe what we need is some sort of meeting to agree upon what we can provide vs what the tour company is hoping for. The cost may turn out to be the least complicated part. For the winning bidders at the Foundation's fundraising auctions in the past, we have done a demonstration with explanations, handling lessons, and a trip to the top of the tower (ie pretty much what we do for our friends). Once it was for a group of interns at an office, bought by the boss, and one other time it was a multi-generational family outing.
If the tour people are expecting something fancier (a certificate saying the tourists rang at Old North? Permission to open the windows at the top of the steeple and lean out?) that might need to be negotiated.

Oh, and: do we need to get permission from Old North for this whole shpiel? Or has that been handled already?

How about $400 or so? Enough to compensate every ringer who comes to practice at a wedding kind of rate (25) and an extra 25 each for several instructors. We should probably give each of the tourists a one-per-learner as a souvenir, but those only cost a couple of bucks apiece.

Hi! I got this message from Old North. I’ve said that we’re broadly interested, but the details are going to be tricky. What kinds of questions should I ask to figure out said details? And any ideas or suggestions for a price?

> Ricky,
>
> We are working with excursionist.com <http://excursionist.com/> to put together a high end tour package for small groups. They are interested in the possibility of bell ringing lessons as part of some of those tours. We would only offer them at the beginning or end of your regularly scheduled playing, i.e. Saturdays or Sundays.
>
> Would you be willing to offer a half hour lesson? If so, what would you want to charge? These folks are high end, so don't be bashful in setting a price.
