Fwd: NAGCR Synchronized Memorial Ringing for DerekSawyer

Curiously, the following message from Sude Liea O'Connor a week ago
seems not to have been widely distributed (I've only seen it on the
Washington Ringing Society list, and the Pittsburgh one, to which it
was then forwarded). I'm sure the intention is that it go to as many
folks as possible, so I'm taking the liberty of forwarding it here.
Apologies if it's actually been more widely distributed and I just
missed it.

While the message doesn't explicitly say so, I'm sure the reason 27
June was chosen is that it would have been Derek's 64th birthday. It
will also be the 9th anniversary of the dedication weekend of the
twelve in Toronto.

And, of course, I'm sure "All North American Towers" is intended to
also include hand bell areas, which would be particularly appropriate
given Derek's great contributions to hand bell ringing in North
America.

Subject: NAGCR Synchronized Memorial Ringing for DerekSawyer

----------------------------------------------------------

To All North American Towers:

We wish to honor DerekSawyer, who enthusiastically and unselfishly
gave us his all. We, The North American Guild of Change Ringers,
invite all Towers to participate in a synchronized Memorial Ringing,
27 June '06, 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight time. Please ring according
to the time zone in which you live or as close to it as possible.

At Porter Brownlee's request, I am organizing this endeavor. After
you have rung, please e-mail to me what you have done, the time and
who rang. Please send this by 5 July '06. I will compile this
information and have a plaque from NAGCR made for Sue, Christopher and
Andrew Sawyer.

We hope you will take part in this tribute to DerekSawyer. I happen
to know he was especially fond of Grandshire and Stedman's with his
favorites being Grandsire Caters and Stedman Triples.

Sincerely,

Sudie Lea O'Connor
