The Québec City Guild of Change-Ringers would like to remind all NAGCR
members that the annual Québec City May Weekend is coming up in under two
months time.
As usual it will take place over the U.S. Memorial Day weekend, that is one
week after the Canadian Victoria Day weekend, starting late afternoon Friday
26th May and end up around noon on Monday 29th May.
A couple of special things about this year's May weekend.
It will be your last chance to ring on the Cathedral bells before major
rehanging is done by Whitechapel this summer/fall.
VERY SPECIAL:
It will be your first chance to ring on the improved St. Matthew's bells!
Anyone who has previously rung at St. Matthew's will know they _WERE_, shall
we say, a little "tricky". When you ring at St. Matthew's this coming May
be prepared for a _VERY_ pleasant surprise!
On Friday there will be ringing at the Cathedral from about 5 PM 'till
people leave to get a bite to eat.
On Saturday morning there'll be ringing at the Cathedral from 9:30 am 'till
noon.
On Saturday afternoon there'll be ringing at the Cathedral and
simultaneously at St. Matthew's from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM, continuing on
longer at the Cathedral.
Saturday evening a group dinner at local restaurant.
Sunday morning there'll be service ringing at the Cathedral from shortly
after 10 AM till 11 AM, then more ringing at the end of the service from
about 12:15 PM.
Sunday afternoon again ringing at both St. Matthew's and at the Cathedral
from 1:30 PM till 3:30, again continuing on a little longer at the
Cathedral.
Monday morning ringing at the Cathedral from 9:30 till noon.
Local ringers would certainly appreciate some training from visiting
ringers.
We now have two or three local ringers who are eagerly looking forward to
their first ever chance at quarter peal attempts during this May weekend,
something they will only be able to do when visitors are here (either
tenoring behind or ringing treble to a doubles method).
If possible, please e-mail me at Quebec.Ringers(_at_)POBox.Com if you might
be coming, along with how many in your group.
Looking forward to seeing lots of visitors at the Québec City May Weekend
Friday May 26th to Monday May 29th
