hello from Quebec City
If you were thinking of coming along to our May Ringing Weekend, this year is a good choice! We are fully up and running with both of our two towers and a set of handbells. This year the date is Friday May 23rd to Monday the 26th. We start at 3 pm on Friday and finish at noon on Monday, basically from 10 am to 5 pm over the weekend. A couple of presentations are planned, and of course we will have the Saturday dinner in the church hall.
There is always a good mix of learners, improvers, solid ringers, and experts, and this year we have a couple of excellent masters from England to help us out. I have to admit that I am already excited. So far, the quarter attempts requested are Plain Bob Doubles and Rutland Surprise Major, so you can see that there is a good range of abilities. We like quarter attempts, but it is a ringing weekend, not a quarter weekend – so the sooner you register, the more chance you have of getting your quarter attempt request in before the schedule is full. The after service ring will be a quarter attempt of Stedman Triples, if we have the band for it.
This year we have a new, and I hope, really easy, registration form that you just fill in and press the ‘send’ button. If you do not want to mess around with local cash machines for the registration and dinner payments, let me know, and will send a PayPal money request (I will take it in my account, as the guild does not have a method for payment). Please think about registering early, as I fuss about making a schedule to suit all participants, and René fusses about getting everyone fed on Saturday.
I will be emailing everyone who sends in registration to ask about what you would like to ring over the weekend – both what you would like help with and what you can help others with. I will especially be talking with those who can conduct. The schedule is made-to-measure for those who are registered.
I might not have the email of everyone in your tower, so please talk amongst yourselves and make sure that everyone gets a copy of the registration form.
