I hope all is well with you as we finally work our way to spring ... and all the exciting anniversaries that begin later next month. Matthew suggested I forward this request to you. Conveniently, if the group is rehearsing as usual on Saturday, 4/19, we can say that we will be ringing our bells as requested! We have enough other things to worry about in the weeks ahead, so will not be working to get others to join in ... but would like to tell him that our bells will ring if, in fact, they will. Please let me know if you will be here ringing that Saturday as usual ... and your overall thoughts on this lovely idea.---------- Forwarded message ---------

Subject: 250th anniversary lanterns and bells
To: congregation@oldnorth.com <congregation@oldnorth.com>Hi --I am delighted to see that you will have Heather Cox Richardson speak at your 250th anniversary Lantern Service on April 18.I am writing to also suggest that the church ring its bells on the 19th in commemoration of the churches who rang theirs to spread the alarm that the British were coming in advance of the battle at Lexington and Concord. If you like the idea, could you please spread it through the faith community? If churches across the country hung lanterns on the night of the 18th and rang their bells at an appointed time on the 19th, it would be a powerful way to celebrate the importance of the opening fight against tyranny and for a democratic union.I worked at Common Cause for nearly a decade under the leadership of Bob Edgar (who has since passed). Bob had previously served as director of the National Council of Churches, so we had the relationships to organize an interfaith protest against the draconian cuts to social services. I don't have those contacts anymore, but am hoping you will spread the word.In solidarity,Arn--@apearson15207.272.2886Arn H. Pearson
