Subject: COVID-19 Response & Closure

Dear friends,

In light of the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, and with the safety of our visitors, supporters, and staff of primary concern, we announce that Old North Church & Historic Site will be closed to visitors beginning at 4 pm today, Friday, March 13, 2020, until further notice. We will be reevaluating this position and updating you on new changes or developments by March 31, 2020.

As part of our commitment to active citizenship, we view this difficult decision as our civic responsibility to act now to help protect public health and mitigate further spread of the illness. This closure is a preventative action -- we have no reason to believe any visitors to Old North have been exposed to COVID-19 on our site, and we have no staff members displaying symptoms.

Our March 19 opening event in celebration of our new exhibit, The Vernacular and the Spectacular has been postponed, and our March 31 Speaker Series event, 10 on 10: Women in the Workforce is being converted to an online webinar and conversation format. We are excited to expand our programming into this new format and will be sharing registration information soon!

Sunday services at Christ Church in the City of Boston have also been suspended until further notice.

Old North Church and Historic Site is a national beacon of perseverance in the face of great challenges. In this spirit, we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future as we continue to serve you in this place of reflection and strength.  We appreciate your continued support of Old North as we make the necessary changes to respond to COVID-19.

Warmly,

Nancy Csaplar & Catherine Matthews

Interim Executive Directors
