Dear Colleague,

Amy Gantt in the Office of the Vice Provost and I would like to know whether you and your faculty colleagues would be interested in  an upcoming three day webinar “Federal Research Priorities and Budgets for FY12”  being held Monday October 31st to Tuesday, November 2nd. It is being organized by the University of Missouri and the National Association of College and University Business Officers, Association of American Universities and it covers the topic of agency directions and funding priorities for the coming year. It  will include representatives from the following agencies:

•  The White House Office of Science & Technology Policy •  NIH •  NSF •  NEH •  Office of Naval Research •  Army Medical and Materiel Command •  NASA •  USDA •  Department of Education •  Department of Energy

The agenda of the webinar can be found at http://research.missouri.edu/federalupdate/agenda.htm . Please note that the schedule on the website is in Central Daylight Time.

This webinar is an excellent opportunity to get an inside look at the priorities of the current administration and the various federal agencies. It is not necessary to view all sessions – you can choose strategically which sessions are most applicable to their research and funding goals.

In order to set up a screening on the Medford campus we would like to have at least 10 faculty interested in some segments of this webinar. There is no cost to attending the screening organized by the OVP. Could you please respond as soon as possible (or Fri. Oct. 7th at the latest) and indicate to me roughly how many colleagues from your department would be interesting in attending some portion of the webinar. This will help us with the logistics of setting up a screening on the Medford campus.

Thanks very much.
